But one thing that I still wonder sometimes, that is since I read a comment on patch cafe someone saying 'if he turns out to be haos son im gonna kill Takei lol.
I noticed that they always say 'he is her son' or 'just like his mother', they never say he is like Yoh. And Amidamaru in this chapter saying that he's not like Yoh got me wondering again.
Ok I dont believe he is Haos son and they do mention that he is yoh and annas son a thousand times, but I cant help speculating lol
I think some of you are forgetting how long it's been since the main Shaman King story -- about 15 years. Ryu was, what, 17? 18? Now he's 30+.
I don't know what people you guys hang out with, but most people - yes, even men - do this thing calling "maturing". They mellow down and learn to not be perverts and not act like children. Of course, some willfully ignore how to be a productive member of society and just go on being jackasses but we'll ignore those guys for now.
He could also, you know, be gay or something. That'd be cool.
Let's not forget that he has been with the Hanagumi trio and Tamao for a long time. They must be sort of "family-ish" by now I suppose.

I like that they mentioned what Redseb and Seyram (sorta) have been up to. I'm surprised with Redseb's career choice though... And there's that nice photo in their office from way back from when they were all at the inn after Yoh and Ren's fight during the qualifying round. (Does that count as an Anna cameo?)

i doubt he was 17-18 during the SF, i would say more around 25ish since he was sporting a pretty beast goatee/beard and was alot taller then the rest of the group.
even a page dedicated to explaining how he went from who he was to who he is now would be pretty cool, since he's sort of a main side character to this series.

speaking of 25ish..... Tamao was 13-14, so just like ryu if hana is 15 and they got him"on the way" just after the SF: Ryu =32 and Tamao=29, well it's only a 4 year difference... but i hope takei isn't trying to forget years of age for each character... Hanagumi have kept enough of the youth for the whole team!
there was a lot more charisma for each characters in this chapter! :D

Yeah, I remember that in the Tokageroh-possessing-Ryu episode (although not in the manga) that Ryu wanted to drink, but his friends didn't want him to, since he was underage.

Tamao is around my age (born in 1988 iirc, 2 weeks older than me), and I'm 2yrs and 9mo younger than Ren exactly, and Yoh is about 7-8 mo older than Ren, so...We're both about 3 1/2 years younger than Yoh (born in May). Therefore, if this is taking place in 2014, 25 is correct if it's before August (if we look at the mochi scene, "It's spring already!" this is correct), if it were after August, she would be 26.
FYI - Ren's birthday is the best way to tell what year it is. Boom.

didn't they say that Hao brought back to life everyone except the patch officers?, also they say there that they "work hard for little money" so... do ghosts need money now?, and finally, Hana states that the girls brought there to attract customers. Unless most of the Funbari Onsen's customers can see dead people, I think the Hanagumi Waitresses are still alive.

Here in the US, under federal law first degree murder carries a sentence of life imprisonment, sometimes with the possibility of parole (being released). New York law dictates 20-25yrs to life or life without the possibility of parole (being released). Second degree murder would be 25 years at least. I highly doubt he's out.
If he is, it's a factor of an author not doing research about foreign law, which, as an author who always does her research, would piss me the hell off.

He gave himself up to police only because of Redseb's dad, so that's only one crime... and he was underage. I know nothing about American laws, but usually being underage means getting a not-so-bad punishment.

We've said many times that we will do Jumbor when we have the time. We will not be doing Ultimo because it is licensed in the United States, where Andy and I reside, and we encourage fans to buy the Japanese, English, or release in their language if available. Sorry.

It's possible to use something without completely understanding what it is or how it works. For example, a young child can turn on a light switch, but may not know how the light switch actually works. Same applies here.

Translation is done, still in cleaning/typesetting. Will go into QC tonight.
And just in case you were wondering... There are 6 double spreads in this chapter. Each one adds about an extra 45 minutes (or so). So that's always a pain.
(Also computer having RAM corruption issues isn't helping. Yes, this is to the point where corrupt blocks of memory actually appear as random blue dots in the image that I need to clean away when my computer adds them. Fun!)

it's a very powerful and useful program, especially for those of us that use RAM sucking programs. just install, then click analyse> clean and you should have a ton of free ram (might fix the issue you're having).

Sorry this is taking so long to release Ch 4. It's my fault since I was dragging my feet with scanning (moving, getting ready for an interview, etc). Andy's trying his best to make up for the time I wasted, so if you can just wait a few more days, I assure you we'll have another quality release.

And as a staunch feminist, I do think we have to concentrate on other things. The Shaman Fight began back when men ruled absolutely, and they just so far haven't had a woman win (to my knowledge at least). I bet when they do, the "royal" title will be changed to reflect as such. Until then...meh, let's not worry too much about it.
I know that Takei likes to incorporate important historical figures into the story so it's not impossible that Queen Himiko could have won the ST.
Himiko was an early century queen noted to be the first ruler to unite the many tribes of early Japan under a single hegemony AND it was said that she was able to communicate with the gods.
So yeah there could have been a Shaman Queen because there literally was a shaman queen.
Yea that does sound possible, or maybe the God Amaterasu was actually the shaman king, I hope that they'll be done with the QC by the end of the month

All of it...? I mean he drew the manga, and the CG animation is just adapting the story he drew...
Also, you got to make money somewhere. You know where the big profit is? Products. Cheapest product to make? Trading cards. How did Takei make most of his money? The Shaman King Trading Card Game (and licensing to Viz/4Kids/Mattel).
So yes, we might not be the target audience, but sometimes it's about that drawing manga is a job. And it's good to tried to get paid.

FACT: No matter how shitty, Children's Card Games usually do very well in Japan. Takei is just doing the [hopefully] smart thing and cashing in. I don't blame him. Expecting originality from ANY anime or manga at this point is almost naiive. Everything's been done, and it's going to take something pretty amazing to change that.
It's kind of funny that you say you like the cel shading of the anime. Andy and I were talking about it last night and he actually said that he thought it was a huge step back in terms of CG. Kind of reminds me of the style of Tales of Symphonia or the Mankin games.
I'm not all that interested, personally. I'm glad I probably won't have to QC it. lol

One question though? The Yohishiro thing the head of the branch family has, he says he is similar to Hao in that sense, does that mean its his ability to read hearts and attract spirits?
